Anyone who knows me knows that the heart of who I am involves volunteering and serving others. I am a non-active member of a masonic organization. I was nominated and received the responsibility of becoming the treasurer of my local chapter in 2012. At the time, I was not sure what being a treasurer of a chapter entailed but I thought that being a Notary Public for the State of South Carolina was a good idea. South Carolina does not require a class to become a Notary Public; you must be a registered voter, you have to fill out the Notary Public application and have it notarized plus pay the fee. You mail the application and wait. Once you receive the commission, you register and swear in at your county clerk's office. Since my early college days, I have always enjoyed supporting and donating to charities along with volunteering my time. Nothing makes my heart happy like giving back to the community especially now as a Notary. It is helping people when they buy a car and the title needs to be notarized; it is making sure loan documents are signed completely and accurately; it's making sure people are who they say they are by checking ID's to prevent fraud; it is sometimes helping people through difficult times like notarizing signatures for wills or advance healthcare directives but its also being there for joyful moments like officiating weddings. Being a mobile notary has given me the opportunity to meet so many people but I have learned so much about myself as well and that is why I became a Notary.
